May and June Arkansas Artist Exhibit

Elizabeth Dismang-Breitweiser

Elizabeth Dismang-Breitweiser Art Work

At age 24 Elizabeth Dismang-Breitweiser is a fresh young face in the bourgeoning Little Rock art scene. She is a native Arkansan, spending her formative years in the White County foothills. It was there, Elizabeth developed a love of nature, which she now combines with her modern sensibilities to create her unique pop art style. Elizabeth graduated from Harding University in
2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Art. She is currently a junior high and high school art teacher and lives in downtown Little Rock with her comic book artist husband Mitch Breitweiser and their cat Chumley. She displays her work at Stephano’s Gallery located on Kavanaugh Boulevard in the Heights neighborhood of Little Rock. One of her paintings was recently selected for the prestigious 50th Annual Delta Exhibition at the Arkansas Arts Center. Elizabeth’s current series is an in-depth and complex study on color theory that utilizes emotive allegorical themes. New artwork will be arriving at Stephano’s regularly, and the modern collector will always find something to celebrate about Elizabeth’s art. edismang@mac.com -(501)650-5091- www.mitchellillustration.com/edisman

Mitch Breitweiser

From his riverside studio near downtown Little Rock, artist Mitch Breitweiser travels the world (and sometimes time and space itself) with his favorite childhood heroes through his art.  His illustrations can be found in comic book stores and in the hands of the young (and the young at heart) throughout the world.

The Arkansas native is into his fourth year as an illustrator for Marvel Comics, for whom he has illustrated many pop culture icons including Captain America, The Fantastic Four, The Hulk and many others.  His childhood dream of drawing comics became an obsession during adolescence.  The obsession gave way to reality when after years of hard work, a move to New York City, and incessantly knocking on doors, Mitch was offered a small but coveted illustration job for Marvel Comics.  The small job lead to a long term contract, and the artist’s star quickly began to rise.

Mitch’s gritty and realistic take on superheroes is part of a growing neo-classical illustration movement that is breathing new life into old heroes.  Cinematic action scenes, lush backgrounds, and emotive characters are the hallmarks of Breitweiser’s work.

The Treasurer’s office rotates local artist exhibits throughout the year. Come view Elizabeth and Mitch's exhibits in the Treasurer’s office during the month of May and June.
