Steven Ochs

BA in Art from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston MA in Art from the University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana MFA in Ceramics from Ohio University in Athens.

He had six years of public school teaching in Illinois and Indiana before moving to Magnolia Arkansas in 1991 to teach for Southern Arkansas University.

Steven is a tenured Associate Professor of Art and works as a Public Artist in creating site-specific concrete murals.

Awards/Recognition:

Faculty excellence Award For Research, by Southern Arkansas University.
1998 and 2003
Calvin Wetzig Faculty Excellence Award For Teaching, by SAU. 2000 Arkansas Art Educators named him as the Higher Education Art Educator of the Year for the State of Arkansas.

Published in Ceramics Monthly to represent the Craftforms National Exhibition of Fine Contemporary Crafts.

Guest Artist/Presenter for the International World of Concrete in Las Vegas.

Over fifty concrete trades’ publications (magazines, books, and websites) for his work in decorative public art.

Twenty-five national juried exhibitions and three international shows.

Doug Waterfield

Doug Waterfield's Art Work

Doug Waterfield is an Associate Professor of Art at Southern Arkansas University, where he has taught since 2000. He became department chair in 2005. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in graphic design from Louisiana Tech University (1991), a Master of Fine Arts degree in art history from Louisiana State University (1997) and a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting from Louisiana Tech University (2007). He is an active artist and is represented nationally. Waterfield is also a documentary film maker, having produced 2 documentaries ("A Journey to Italy with Doug Waterfield" (2003) and "Arkansas Portraits: A Look at Art Made by Arkansans" (2005) to date. He currently lives in Magnolia, AR with his wife, who is a professional photographer and their two children. His work is available for view on the web at www.dougwaterfield.com

The Treasurer’s office rotates local artist exhibits throughout the year. Come view Steven and Doug's exhibits in the Treasurer’s office during the month of March and April.
