Daina Newcomb
What started as a need for a creative outlet after selling her business has become a wonderful, exciting journey of color and texture for Daina Newcomb of Little Rock. Her love of flowers and angels is evident in her watercolor and acrylic paintings, but her abstract edge gives her work a unique and defining flair.
Daina grew up in Lonoke, graduated from Sophie Newcomb College in New Orleans and lived in Dallas for six years before moving to Little Rock in 1983. At that time she opened The Full Moon on Kavanaugh Boulevard which she owned for 19 years. After selling The Full Moon, Daina started taking watercolor lessons at the Arkansas Arts Center. Here she found the perfect venue for expressing her artistic energy. Her fun hobby quickly evolved into a passion that continues to be an inspiration to Daina every day.
Daina is married to Kevin Newcomb and they have two sons. She has a studio in her attic where she gets to go to work whenever she wants.

Keri Young
A native of Zambia, a south-central African country, Keri Young grew up with a slightly different idea of what the word 'wildlife' means compared to most people from around these parts. Born in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, it was obvious from an early age that she had an interest in art, constantly drawing or coloring, her talent for realism progressed.
During her last year of high school she got the opportunity to work with renowned wildlife artist Craig Bone, and her interest and ability in wildlife art took a huge leap forward. Keri is a recent graduate of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff where she studied Visual Arts and majored in Art Education. Keri is now working on obtaining her Masters degree in Art Education from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

Lainie Deerman
My name is Lainie Deerman. I am an Arkansas native and currently reside in Benton. I have by BFA in studio art, which I received from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana. In the fall I will pursue a masters in art education at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Art is my passion and I feel that it can be used in many ways to communicate with others.
Creating art is a form of journaling; a place where I can set up a dialogue between others and myself. It is an unplanned adventure; taking me places I never thought I would go. It allows me to tap into the things in my mind that have long been forgotten, free to imagine, invent and communicate, to tell my own stories.
Whether attempting to go down a huge hill on my new skates as a child, which left me with scraped knees or the desire to start a family of my own, which has yet to happen, my work comes from a deep urge to discover, to experience, to feel. Whether working from past events or more current ones, defining or relating the origin of those experiences is what I strive for.
The Treasurer’s office rotates local artist exhibits throughout the year. Come view Daina, Keri, and Lainie's exhibits in the Treasurer’s office during the month of July and August.
