Summary of Changes

Effective January 04, 1999, the TEA Work Incentive Deduction will increase from 50% to 60%.  This increase will allow recipients earning minimum wage to work more hours per week and remain eligible for cash assistance and needed supportive services.  The above policy sections have been revised to include this change.

Effective Monday 1/4/99, the following actions will be necessary when keying a TEA case with earnings to ACES.

Any TEA approvals with earnings keyed to the system on or after 1/4/99, must include the amount for the 60% deduction.

For existing cases with earnings the new deduction amount must be keyed when making any change to the case on the system.  Because ACES will not update existing 50% deduction to the 60% amount, automatically, the TEA worker will have to key in the new (60%) amount when the case is touched (in ACES) for any reason.

Failure to do so will result in a night edit error occurring.

In addition, the DCO-7 has been revised to reflect the proposed change in the Work Incentive Deduction.

An initial supply of form DOC-7 will be sent to each county.  Refer to IMF issuance IMF 99-2.  If needed, counties may photocopy this form to use until the initial supply is received.
