Subj: New Policy - Medicaid Eligibility for the Working Disabled

This is the first in a series of issuances to the Medical Services Policy Manual under a new format. To make the manual more user-friendly, we have reformatted the pages and are in the process of reorganizing the manual. When completed, the manual will be comprised of three distinct sections:

  • 1000 through 9000 will contain general Medicaid information that applies to all categories.
  • 10,000 through 19,000 will contain information regarding Medicaid for families.
  • 20,000 through 29,000 will contain information regarding Medicaid for the Aged, Blind and Disabled.

Summary of Changes

 

Policy has been added at [MS 28000] to cover disabled working individuals. This policy makes it possible for people with disabilities to join, or remain in, the workplace without fear of losing their Medicare and Medicaid coverage.

The DCO-57 for the Working Disabled will be completed and keyed like other categories except that the Unit Size is not limited to 2, but can be the number of individuals in the family. The family unit consists of both parents, and any children of either parent, under the age of 18, residing in the home.

Medicaid Eligibility for the Working Disabled is not on ANSWER at this time. ANSWER counties with Working Disabled applicants must complete and FAX the DCO-57 to (501) 682-8281 to be keyed in the Central Office.
