What is the Faith-Based & Community Initiative?

Known first as “Charitable Choice” under President Clinton, the Faith-Based & Community Initiative President Bush advocates offers faith-based and community groups delivering social services to those in need opportunities to compete for government funds as secular groups do.  Find the most up-to-the-minute information on government grants through the White House Center for Faith-Based and Community Initiative website.

Has any money been set aside for faith-based organizations (churches)?

No, this initiative only allows faith-based and community organizations an opportunity to apply for the funding available. All organizations will be competing for the same dollars.
