Applying for Child Support Services
Any parent or person with custody of a child who needs help to establish a child support or medical support obligation or to collect support payments from the noncustodial parent can apply for child support enforcement services.

Families who are currently receiving State assistance, such as Transitional Employment Assistance (TEA) or Foster Care, automatically receive child support enforcement services. Those families are required to cooperate in establishing paternity and collecting support. Child support payments are then used to repay public assistance benefits.

If you are not on public assistance, you may apply for service if:
  • You are the child's parent, legal guardian or caretaker, and
  • The child for whom you are seeking support is under 18 years of age or is attending high school.
A non-refundable fee of $25 per case is charged to process your application.

Contact your local child support office for information on collecting support for children who are at least 18 years old but have not yet reached their 23rd birthday.
