Chiropractic Licensure Requirements
  • Effective January 1, 2008, every person applying for a license issued by the Board shall provide written authorization to the Board to allow the Identification Bureau of the Arkansas State Police to release the results of a criminal history background check to the Board. Each applicant shall complete a state fingerprint card in the presence of a law enforcement officer, and shall have that officer sign the card, giving his/her jurisdiction, the date, and his/her badge number. The applicant shall be responsible for payment of all fees associated with the background check.
  • 17-81-305.(d) In lieu of the practical examination set out in Section 17-81-306, with the exception of (a)(1)(A) in that section, the applicant may present the board with evidence of passing the National Board Part IV with a minimum score of 375 which shall be accepted by the board as a passing grade.
  • Board Policy: An application may be approved contingent upon a transcript of the National Board Part IV mailed to the Board office within seven (7) days of the scheduled examination. $200.00 Application Fee.

Applicants presenting a National Board Part IV transcript will still be required to submit a completed application with all supporting documents 45 days prior to the examination date. You will be required to attend the orientation the day of the examination. * An open book Ethics and Jurisprudence test will be mailed to each approved applicant along with the ‘Rules, Regulations and Statutes.’ Bring the completed test with you the day of the orientation and present it when you register.

  • Applicants must possess a valid National Board certificate to include Parts, I, II, III and the elective Physiological Therapeutics elective section of the National Board on and after January 1, 1990. Doctors graduating from July 1, 1997 through December 31, 1989 are required to possess a valid National Board certificate to include Parts, I, II and Physiological Therapeutics.
  • Proof of two years of pre-chiropractic college study leading to a minimum of C.C.E. requirements in the filed of science: (Sec. §17-81-305 (2)a,(1) to mean not less than sixty (60) semester-hour credits, a minimum of thirty (30) semester hour credits of which shall be in pure science subjects.
  • An official transcript indicating receipt of D.C. degree from an accredited Chiropractic College, along with a copy of your diploma. A completion of study in Physiological Therapeutics, consisting of no less than (12) quarter-hours academic credits, one hundred twenty (120)) classroom hours of physiological therapeutics.
  • Applicant must be twenty-one (21) years old of age.
  • All application materials must be in the board office forty-five days prior to the date of the examination.
  • All transcripts pertaining to pre-professional college credits must be original, official documents.
  • Not have had a license to practice chiropractic in any other state suspended or revoked nor have been placed on probation for any cause.
  • Not have been convicted of a felony.
  • Not be a habitual user of intoxicants, drugs, and hallucinatory preparations.


Applicants Who have not Yet Graduated Chiropractic College

  • An approved applicant will be permitted to write this Board’s examination provided the applicant’s date of graduation from Chiropractic College precedes the date of the next regularly scheduled examination by no more than six (6) months. You may sit the Arkansas Board provided the date of graduation from Chiropractic College precedes the date of the next regularly scheduled examination by no more than six months. * If you do not complete the chiropractic course work within the six (6) months after taking the licensure examination you will be required to retake the exam and pay the proper fees. Upon graduation you much request the college mail to our office an official transcript and a copy of your diploma.
  • You will be required to present a valid National Board certificate to include Parts, I, II, III and Physiological Therapeutics before being allowed to sit the examination.
  • Upon successfully completing the ASBCE examination your license will be held until your graduation and presenting an official transcript and a copy of your diploma from an accredited Chiropractic College.

The Examination is Given in January and July Each Year.

All materials and supporting documents must be in our office FORTY-FIVE DAYS prior to the date of the examination. As to the deadline the postmark applies. NO LATE APPLICTIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

Please send all documentations in one envelope if possible. We suggest you give educational institutions, and the National Board adequate time to fill your requests for transcripts.

Examination Subjects

The examination includes the following subjects:

  1. Practice management, ethics and jurisprudence
  2. Physical and clinical diagnosis
  3. Chiropractic examination procedures
  4. Chiropractic adjustive and manipulative therapeutics
  5. X-ray interpretations
  6. Chiropractic philosophy

§17-81-305(d) In lieu of the practical examination the applicant may present the board with evidence of passing the National Board Part IV with a minimum score of 375, which shall be accepted, by the board as a passing grade.

Fees

The application shall be accompanied by the payment of $200.00.

If you would like for D.C. to appear after you’re name or Dr. before you’re name, please specify when answering question (4).

  • ALL TRANSCRIPTS PERTAINING TO PRE-PROFESSIONAL COLLEGE CREDITS MUST BE ORIGINAL, OFFICIAL DOCUMENTS SENT TO THIS OFFICE FROM THE EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION(S).
  • CONTINUING EDUCATION:
    Those doctors licensed in January must submit twenty-four (24) hours of continuing education by no later than December 31st.
    Doctors licensed in July must submit twelve (12) hours of continuing education by December 31st.
    Each year thereafter you must submit evidence of having completed not less than twenty=four (24) hours of continuing education annually, at a seminar or seminars approved by this Board.
