Update from July 16, 2010
Arkansas Psychology Board Remedial Actions to be Taken to Improve Services
  1. We will immediately request approval to hire a third staff person. If granted, it may take a few weeks to advertise, select, and train the new staff person. The Board will make this our top priority.
  2. A designated Board Member will investigate the possibility of offering volunteer positions to student interns, and will consider structuring the work in such a way as to provide students with a meaningful learning experience.
  3. We have instructed the staff to create and maintain a log of all incoming calls, e-mails and correspondence (Information to be included = date, name of caller, nature of request, disposition, and initials of staff).
  4. All complaints will be forwarded to a designated Board Member, who will follow up on the complaints until they are resolved.
  5. At a special meeting on July 1, 2010, the Board authorized staff to obtain mobile telephones to alleviate communication problems when staff are out of the office. The numbers are: (501) 554-4003 for the Executive Director, Sheila Pauley and (501) 554-0690 for the Administrative Specialist, Meagan Kuta. The numbers will be published on our webpage at: http://www.arkansas.gov/abep/Contact_Us.htm
  6. A designated Board Member will work with the Administrative Specialist to improve the design and functions of the website to facilitate applying for a license, the license renewal process, and procedures related to Continuing Education.
  7. Reminder postcards will be sent out 3 months before the closing date for license renewal (June 30th), providing information on the time it takes to process applications received in the office and recommending the use of the on-line license renewal system. The same information will be provided on our website.
  8. A designated Board Member is revising our forms to make them more user-friendly and easier to understand. This will reduce the work of staff involved in returning paperwork to request corrections prior to consideration by the Board at monthly meetings. The new forms will be available on the website in the near future.
  9. Upon completion of form revisions, the Board will study our rules and regulations to eliminate language that is unclear or inconsistent with respect to license application or renewal processes.
Edward C. Kleitsch, Ph.D.
Chairman, Arkansas Psychology Board

CEU Notice:
CONTINING EDUCATION UNITS (CEU)
--- RULE REVISION Effective October 31, 2009
CEU’s are now due.

The Arkansas Psychology Board Rules and Regulations, Section 9, CEU requirements were revised. The changes became effective on October 31, 2009.
The main points are:

  1. Licensees will NOT report CE activity during the biennium.
  2. Licensees WILL earn twenty (20) hours of CE activity annually.
  3. Licensees will attest to having completed twenty (20) hours of CE activity during licensure renewal.
  4. The initial reporting will be when you renew your 2010-2011 Psychologist or Psychological Examiners license.
  5. CEU’s from January 1, 2009 until the date you renew your license will count towards the initial twenty (20) hours.
  6. The Board will then conduct a random audit of our licensees. If your name is chosen, we will contact you and at that time, the appropriate documents will be required.
  7. Licensees will NOT submit CE documentation to the Board office, unless we contact you for that information.
